Franklin Hall Halton Road
Originally known as the Drill Hall the Hall was used as a hospital during the First World War. The Franklin Hall was officially opened on 2001 July 19 by Miss T. M. Maddison MBE, a descendent of explorer Sir John Franklin 'The man who ate his boots' (1786-1847).

Terrace of houses on Halton Road, Spilsby
Stormy lighting on a rather temperamental August afternoon.
Overhead two Spitfires flew in formation, doubtless in practice for the many air displays which are on-going at the moment. The highlight has been the arrival in the country from Canada of the Lancaster Bomber. This one and the one resident at Coningsby are the only two in the world which are still airworthy. The "Lancs" are round and about giving displays with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and will also be flying with the Vulcan despite big discrepancies in their flying speeds - the Vulcan will be flying behind its drag curve to keep with the "Lancs". Despite their differences, and ages, the Vulcan and the Lancaster share the same designer.
Since it is close to Coningsby, Spilsby is often treated to unscheduled air displays.

Looking up towards the town. Ahead, at the junction, the road left becomes Market Street. Continuing forward, the road becomes Queen Street. Not in shot is the turn into Simpson Street, just next to the building on the right. There you will find the local Doctor's Surgery. Behind the photographer is the Town Hall.
