Terrace of houses on Halton Road, Spilsby
Stormy lighting on a rather temperamental August afternoon. Overhead two Spitfires flew in formation, doubtless in practice for the many air displays which are on-going at the moment. The highlight has been the arrival in the country from Canada of the Lancaster Bomber. This one and the one resident at Coningsby are the only two in the world which are still airworthy. The "Lancs" are round and about giving displays with the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and will also be flying with the Vulcan despite big discrepancies in their flying speeds - the Vulcan will be flying behind its drag curve to keep with the "Lancs". Despite their differences, and ages, the Vulcan and the Lancaster share the same designer. Since it is close to Coningsby, Spilsby is often treated to unscheduled air displays.
