On the field boundary, an old oak tree frames the setting moon. It was this photograph, which was taken at 07:35 made me realise I'd forgotten to put the camera clock back last October. The EXIF file shows 08:35

Bolingbroke Castle, Old Bolingbroke
"An Englishman's home is his castle", so they say. Well, I've included my 'castle' in this shot, which was taken from the walls of Bolingbroke Castle. There are plans http://www.lincsheritage.org/community_heritage/projects/index.php to clear out the moat, at a cost of £40,000, which used to be more than ninety feet across. When the castle was demolished the moat was filled in and it silted up to form a marshy weed-filled area, which is inhabited by waterfowl. Looking south is this view of the Rout Yard (as photographed from the castle wall) http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/597280 http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/597286 The siege of Old Bolingbroke http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1094880 http://www.geograph.org.uk/article/Civil-War-Re-enactment---Winceby-and-Old-Bolingbroke The nearby church http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1090891 Outline plan of the castle remains http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a303/escafeld01/Misc/castle.jpg

Christmas lights 2007. I thought I'd taken the photo in 2010. Just shows how time passes without you realising it.

Hagnaby Road, Old Bolingbroke
Looking across to the castle ruins and the village church. Head north and the first turn left leads to Hareby. The next turn left heads out to Horncastle. If you follow the road out it leads to Spilsby. If you head south, it leads to Hagnaby and eventually Boston.

Footpath, Old Bolingbroke
At the boundary of this field a footpath runs from Hagnaby Road to Back Lane. About half way along there is a footbridge across the dyke for access to the rout yard and castle.
