Grammar school buildings
The Grammar school dates from 1567, when it was housed in the long hall in the left centre. The other buildings began appearing in the mid 19th century. This range is grade II listed - https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1388989?section=official-list-entry . It is apparently built over the burial ground of the much earlier Greyfriar's friary (https://heritage-explorer.lincolnshire.gov.uk/Monument/MLI12650 ).

The River Witham, Boston
In the past, the changing course of the river Witham meant it could reach the sea through several of the channels through the townlands. Towards the end of the first Millennium the main channel was apparently close to the fen edges of Heckington and Swineshead, leading to the wide estuary of Bicker Haven. However, the Haven silted up and later the main course of the river was via the narrower channel through the town of Boston.
