Prospect of St Wendreda's from Church Street
This was an attempt to recreate "March, 1929" http://www.francisfrith.com/search/england/cambridgeshire/march/photos/march_81924.htm in the Frith Collection; but the Frith photo was taken from further forward with a wider angle lens than mine.

March: St Wendreda
Seen from Job's Lane on a grey and showery October morning. "A church almost entirely of the Dec and Perp styles, except for the N arcade which may be as early as 1300 and the [Victorian] chancel" (Nikolaus Pevsner). The glory of St Wendreda's, though, is its angel roof - see Image], Image] and others.

"What a glorious church: a most attractive mixture of honey-coloured ragstone, silver-grey ashlar for the buttresses and the battlements that crown one of those features that specially delight E Anglians and their visitors - a clerestory, adorned by flint-and-brick flushwork, and designed to light a remarkable roof" (Norman Scarfe, Shell Guide).
