Gatwick Express coaches in March railway sidings
Some daubed with graffiti. The set had been bought by the group trying to reopen the Bramley line from March to Wisbech. However the coaching stock (which had been financed partly by a public appeal) were sold to a railway in New Zealand.

Freight at March
This illustrates the amount of freight in this part of the rail network. Due to Whitemoor yards being a short distance from here. They were built to hold the vast amount of freight for and from East Anglia. Closure came in the 1990s but were reborn in 2004 with the HS1 link from Dover to St Pancreas. Temple mills depot had to close and was relocated here.

Down stopping train from Cambridge approaching March
View eastward, towards Ely on the ex-GE main line, Ely - March - Peterborough/Spalding etc., also Wisbech and Kings Lynn. The 13.53 Cambridge - Kings Lynn, which will turn north to Wisbech immediately after March station, is headed by LNER ex-GE D16/3 class No. 62567. Built originally in 5/1908 as GE Holden class D56 No 1836 (D15 No. 8836 on the LNER) and rebuilt 10/37 as a Class D16/3, it was renumbered 2567 in 1946, becoming BR No. 62567 and withdrawn 12/56. Note the ordinary wagon behind the tender - unusual?

Freight Train at March
EWS 66069 hauls a freight train through March station into a siding next to the old goods shed. It has been converted into a locomotive shed. The area, which has a huge siding space both here and at Whitemoore is heavily used by freight trains.
