Village Sign
The new village sign at Walpole St Andrew. The sign commemorates the very successful steam rally that used to be held in the village for many years. In the background is the tower of St Andrew's Church.

Walpole St. Andrew village sign
Probably one of the most complex and elaborate village signs in the county. Depicting the church tower, but the most striking object is the traction engine, because of the annual steam rally held in the village. In the apple blossom are small apples, and strawberries show how the village relied on the crops for much of its wealth. Waves relate to the fact the village was once on the coast while bulrushes indicate its marshland location. The sign was designed by Wisbech artist Gordon Gillick and made by former villager Michael South.
