With some brown fenland soil exposed. This is a brown fen, other area have black soil due to different types of peat.

Needham Bank
Road between Friday Bridge and Upwell. Lines of Poplars are common in the fens, acting as windbreaks and reducing soil erosion. They also used to have commercial value for timber (largely for match making) but that has reduced through competition with abroad.
