Home counties rustic
Built in 1931 the BUC alms houses have many features fashionable in domestic architecture of the 1920s, like the round-topped our and corner windows. The country was still feeling the influence of Morris's 'arts and crafts' movement, and there are several houses in West Road with this sort of comfortable charm.

Manor House in West Street, Bourne, Lincolnshire
Manor House at the corner of Manor Lane is a fine stone property built as an imposing town house in the 19th century but now converted into rented flats while the quiet and secluded Manor Lane has become an access road for a printing plant.

The end wall of Manor House
This is the end wall of Image made of brick of a variety of sizes.
This is a grade II listed building (https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1243329 ) described as an "earlier building with 18th C front and fenestration". The front is of ashlar, and the rest of the building of these small bricks.

Brickwork repairs
The 300 year old brickwork has spalled badly, with the frost. Instead of replacing these bricks - which are probably an unobtainable size, they have been filled with what looks like Portland cement and the brick courses scribed in.
That seems an odd way to repair a grade II listed building, but it is in the hands of the local council, so what do I know?

Bike on a wall
A rather nice looking bike, perhaps too small for me, offered for sale at the side of the road. Rather well displayed with a diagonal brace from the rear and a proper bike lock round the pole. it cleverly said "Apoply number 92" rather than giving a price.
