Woodland Lodge at Bourne, Lincolnshire
The land either side of North Road was mainly fields until developed as new homes for the more affluent middle class families during the early years of the 20th century and these substantial properties remain highly sought after today, such as No 103, also known as Woodland Lodge, where evacuee families were welcomed during the Second World War.

North Road, looking North
The wide and pleasant North Road, on the line of the former Roman Road of 'King Street', is now lined with Rowan trees planted by the Rotary club.

Chalet bungalow
Yenton Minster built a lot of these chalet bungalows in the late 1970s. The floor-to-ceiling windows were a special feature. Single glazed, they were a serious problem for heating, and most have been filled in below the waistline. But they are perfect for small dogs, and give a very spacious feel to the houses.
Modern rules on insulation of houses have effectively outlawed this technique, but they are distinctive and very attractive outside and in.

When Stanley Street was widened in about 1982, the house lost about half of the width of the garden.
