Former school
Haconby school closed at some time in the 1970s. It was built in 1866 at the expense of Lord Ancaster, in the style of many of his buildings in the villages he owned.

The village school at Haconby, near Bourne, Lincolnshire
Children were educated in the church until the primary school was built by Lord Ancaster in 1866 in the traditional red brick design but despite widespread public protest, it closed in the summer of 1981 and has since been converted and extended for use as a private home known as The Old School.

Field behind the school
There is a public footpath alongside the former school, presumably once used by children from nearby Dunsby and the Mill to get to lessons. It goes through a stockfield and walkers are asked to keep dogs on leds.
