Retirement homes
Built in the style of many South Kesteven Rural District Council village retirement cottages, these are a few yards from the village pub. An obvious bit of Genius.

The Six Bells pub, Witham on the Hill

The Six Bells at Witham-on-the-Hill, near Bourne, Lincolnshire
The original village pub was the Black Dog which was situated opposite the gates of Witham Hall and the grooms from the stables were often to be found there, much to the displeasure of their employer, the squire, who closed it down and replaced it in 1908 with the Six Bells which was built at the far end of the village out of temptation's way.

Re-opened!
The village pub, the six bells, has re-opened after a period of renovation and rebuilding lasting almost a year. The car park is always busy, and they now advertise themselves as "an inn with rooms"

Cut-out sign
The rather clever cut-out sign of the pub in Image], machined from one sheet of steel, pre-dates the recent rebuild. It is astonishingly difficult to do justice to with a camera.
