Gordon Square, Quarrelton
The open space at the near end of the buildings is Gordon Square, which was created by George Ludovic Houston to commemorate General Gordon; see Image It is located alongside Beith Road. As for the adjacent buildings, the first-edition OS map (surveyed in 1857) shows a school there (the buildings are perhaps a remnant of that), with Broombrae Ropewalk behind it. Houston also created the Rest and Be Thankful shelter, which stands further along the same side of the road: Image Between that and Gordon Square is a Image
