Situated in the west wall of the original 1864 Church, this is one of two modern windows by Sarah Campbell of Dunstaffnage. It depicts the dream of Jacob at Bethel.

Cathedral Church of St John the Divine, Oban - (29)
The blocked west transept arch contains a massive bronze eagle, the sign of St John the Evangelist, whose theology is supposed to soar over the rest of the Bible. The Cathedral's guide book (from which much of my information has been taken) notes that not everyone believes St John the Evangelist and St John the Divine are the same person. Originally, this building's dedication was simply to St John, but by 1884 he was termed St John the Evangelist and soon after 1895 had become St John the Divine. The sculpture is the work of John Wyllie of Gourock.

Rear of St John's Cathedral, Oban
The cathedral church is a Category C listed building [http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/LB38849], started in 1864, with further building phases in 1882 and 1910. Running out of money in the third phase, the building was unfinished, as can be seen here.
