According to the date and inscription stones on the building ...
... it was built in 1909 and opened as
St Mary's Higher Grade & Elementary Schools
The spelling of Schools being deliberate despite there being only one building.

A Category B Listed building on Patrick between Houston Street and Brougham Street. In Early French Gothic style by London architect George Goldie (1862). The original plan included a higher tower (in the foreground) but money ran short and it was never completed.
