Newark Street is prominent in this view from Tower Hill, as is Sir Gabriel Woods Mariners' Home, to the right of centre. The footbridge at Fort Matilda railway station is also visible in the shadow of Lyle Hill.

Old milestone
This is the only milestone found, to date, in Inverclyde. It is on the A770, outside Nos.247/249 Eldon Street in Greenock. In 2012 some flaking paint fell off the top bevel and a faint 2 was revealed. It is probably painted when the wall is painted. From its style and proximity to the tollhouse at the junction of Eldon Street with Newark Street it will date from the19C toll road era.
