Construction at Mallard Crescent, Greenock
Twenty terraced and semi-detached homes are being built here. Work began early in 2018. The construction site had until recently been occupied by five blocks of flats (see Image), now demolished; the most westerly of those blocks stood at about the spot from which the present picture was taken. Mallard Crescent
The title refers to the road that appears in the left foreground, and which ends not far ahead. The houses on the left are also alongside Mallard Crescent. Along with Mallard, the bird names used for streets in this area include Falcon, Kestrel, Partridge, Merlin, Finch, Plover, Sandpiper, Robin, Raven, Rook, Wren, Heron, Mavis, Siskin, Curlew, and Linnet. On the high ground in the right background are some houses alongside Lyle Road. To their left, but only visible with large image sizes, is the Image The present picture was taken from a path that leads downhill from Kestrel Crescent to Mallard Crescent. Part of that path can be seen in the right foreground.
