Branchton railway station
A Scotrail 6 car Class 380 train, heading to Paisley Gilmour Street. Normally services run only to Glasgow Central, but engineering works mean that Paisley is the terminus today. Despite the platform being longe enough to accommodate the six car train, passengers are informed that they cannot exit to the platform from the rear coach (shown here).

Branchton Station
View westward, towards Wemyss Bay; ex-Caledonian Glasgow - Paisley - Port Glasgow - Wemyss Bay line (now electrified). This station was opened 5/6/67, replacing Upper Greenock, also Ravenscraig (closed 1/2/44).

On the level

Branchton railway station
The station building has been un-manned and boarded up for several years. It was boarded up shortly after being completely renovated. Inverkip road is to the left, Ravenscraig Court is obscured by the trees.

Branchton railway station
The building has been closed for several years, but the station is still in use, providing an hourly service to Glasgow and Wemyss Bay. The sign reads "Alight here for Inverclyde Royal Hospital". See the same scene in 1974 Image and in 2016 Image
