Paisley - The Hammills
In Paisley there is a picturesque waterfall known as the Hammills. This was once described as "The little Niagara Falls" of Paisley. It is a layer of volcanic rock that was an excellent place for catching fish. The water was used to power nearby mills. Prince Charles visited the mills a few years ago and also various other places to improve these listed buildings... 3 years later the mill is saved from decay and people have large open plan houses in it. It makes a big difference to the local area. See my friend's website www.paisley.org.uk for more details. Information about "tailing the Linn" can be found there.
