Dancing on Fritillary Sunday
Around mid April the rare Fritillary flowers come into bloom in a meadow near Ducklington church. The villagers and visitors turn out to admire them and there is Morris Dancing, cake and cream tea. This is the Ducklington Morris dancers performing on home territory.

The Bell Inn (4) - sign, 21 Standlake Road, Ducklington
The name reflects the close association that the church had with inns and taverns in the past and particularly in medieval times. Many religious establishments brewed church ales which were sold to increase income. The sound of the church bell was heard far and wide, particularly in the days before the noise of motor traffic etc. Frequently there would be a pub located very near to the church, as is the case with this pub. Quite often the pub name includes a number such as The Five Bells, to reflect the number of bells present in the church. The brewers Greene King are based at Bury St. Edmunds in Suffolk, where they have a brewery. Their pubs division has around 1,600 pubs at present, and has extended well beyond their East Anglian base, particularly as they have taken over many pubs from other now defunct breweries.
