The Fleece (1), 11 Church Green, Witney, Oxon
Overlooking Witney's spacious Church Green, this popular gastropub is in a Grade II listed building thought to date from the early 18th century, with later changes. The archway leads to its car park. Originally known as the Fleece Hotel, the pub does still provides accommodation. In the warmer months there is some outside seating at the front, as can be seen in this view. It is run by the Peach Pub Company, who lease it from the brewers Greene King. Since this photograph was taken in June 2011, the external signage has changed. See this October 2015 photograph:- Image

The sign of The Fleece shows, as one might expect, a sheep. Witney was famous for its woollen blankets, which sadly are no longer made in the town.
