20 Northmoor Road, Oxford: former home of J. R. R. Tolkien
Tolkien's long tenure at the University as an Anglo-Saxon and Middle English specialist (he was Rawlinson and Bosworth Professor of Anglo-Saxon from 1925 to 1945, and Merton Professor of English Language and Literature from 1945 to 1959) means that he is very strongly associated with the city. He lived at this address during the inter-war years, during which time he wrote "The Hobbit" and the first two books of "The Lord of the Rings".
