Jude the Obscure in Jericho, Oxford
Pub at 54 Walton Street. Thomas Hardy's novel Jude the Obscure has a scene set in nearby St Barnabas Church http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4089083 and it may be that the suburb Beersheba in the novel is actually Jericho. This pub was named in recognition of these references.

Jericho Street
A view of the northeast end of this street that takes its name from the Jericho area of the city of Oxford - or perhaps gave its name? The large building is the Jericho Tavern and the road at the end is Walton Street.

The Jude the Obscure Pub, Jericho
Originally a pub that showcased artistic, musical and theatrical talent (a wonderful idea conceived by a rather eccentric and drunken Irishman, Noel Reilly) this pub passed into the hands of Morrells and now, sadly, Greene King. For another of Noel's Hardy-themed pubs nearby in Christminster see Image
