Co-operative effort
"This stone was raised by the people of Woodstock to celebrate the arrival of the new millennium". The people of Woodstock? All of them? A co-operative effort then. Shakespeare's Way passes this point. This was the end of one of our daily sections. On long distance walks, for continuity we have a thing called a "touching point". You touch it at the end of one section and touch the same place at the start of the next. This was our Woodstock touching point.

Millennium Stone (2), High Street, Woodstock
Ten years on from the Millennium and already the stone was weathering, making the inscription less clear than it was. It will be a miracle if it lasts a hundred years, let alone to the next Millennium. The inscription reads:- "This stone was raised by the people of Woodstock to celebrate the arrival of the new Millennium". Image Image
