St Mary's Church, Westwell
The church is largely C12 but replaced an earlier Saxon church. The bell tower was added in C19. The church was owned by the Knights Templar, then passed to the monastery of Edington in Wiltshire. Upon the dissolution of the monasteries under Henry VIII the ownership passed to Christ Church College Oxford. In 1912 it was sold to Bertram Freeman-Mitford (uncle to the Mitford girls) who later became Lord Redesdale. See http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/3929435 for other links to the Mitfords in this locality.

The Old Rectory, Westwell
Grade II* listed former rectory, built on the site of a former parsonage around 1700, with 19th and 20th century additions. The rectory was once owned by Capt. the Hon. Bertram Freeman-Mitford, later 3rd Lord Redesdale, who, in 1958, inherited the title from his brother, the father of the six Mitford sisters, who lived at nearby Swinbrook. https://britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101065936-the-old-rectory-westwell#.XvJIXJpKiUk
