St Mary, Banbury: east end
The east end of the church features a blocked up window, which may always have been a 'dummy' feature as the apsidal chancel inside has a painted reredos in place of the usual east window. The elliptical windows of what I presume are the vestry are of more interest.

The Historic England listing refers to chancel decoration designed by Blomfield and executed in 1876 by Heaton, Butler and Bayne. The Twelve Apostles are depicted here, including Matthias who was chosen to replace Judas Iscariot after his betrayal of Jesus.
