Swift ditch from the bridge
Swift ditch which used to take goods via small barges from the Thames near by to the Thames again the other side of Abingdon thus bypassing the shallows which were at Abingdon and caused problems with navigation in the Middle Ages.

Abingdon Road crossing Back Water
Back water is a short stretch of the Thames creating a small island between it and the main part. The road then enters Andersey Island till it reaches Abingdon Bridge.
