Sign of the times
This pub/hotel used to be called the Welsh Pony. Standing between George Street and Gloucester Green where the markets were held, it was named after some of the animals on sale and probably accommodated the Welsh pony traders too. These days the open space is a bus terminus and the hotel is aiming to cater for customers from Europe not Wales.

George Street at night, Oxford
An important shopping and business street in the city. On the immediate left is The Opium Den, a Chinese restaurant. The road on the right is the access road to Gloucester Green Bus Station. A recent fall of snow is still much in evidence.

Oxford : Gloucester Green Bus Station
Today, the Gloucester Green bus station is the Oxford terminus for long-distance coach services, including the very frequent services to London and route X5 to Cambridge. The bus station is too small to accommodate more than a few local bus services.
