Ancient yew in Didcot
Near the entrance to All Saints. The church website records the story that Berin, the great British missionary, preached to the Saxons here. He later became Bishop of Dorchester, and history calls him St Birinus. It is said that this yew was planted not long afterwards on the place where he preached. The yew is certainly well over 1,000 years old.

Didcot Conservative Sports & Social Club
Distinctive building viewed across Foxhall Road. The club's website states that the club was formed in 1946 by a group of local businessmen, originally housed in a Nissen hut in Old Didcot. After a short while, members bought an old barn that was in a very poor state of repair, part of an aged working farm. The transformed barn is now the main hall of the present clubhouse. http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4311638 to a closer view.
