Osborne Mills
No. 2 left, No. 1 right. Not a well known site. The late George Watkins did photograph the No. 2 Mill engine and No. 1 Mill steam turbine.

Osborne Mills, Chadderton
Pair of mills on Osborne and Waddington Streets. No. 1 (back) was by A H Stott in 1873, extended 1891 and 1900, closed 1968. 66,008 spindles in 1910.
No. 2 was by P S Stott in 1912 with 54,720 spindles. Also closed 1968.
No. 1 had Petrie engines and then from 1920 a C A Parsons turbine. No. 2 had a 1200 hp Hick, Hargreaves.
Now in multiple occupation.

Osborne Mills
The courtyard showing the two engine houses. The further one is the older, but in latter days had the more modern engine. Very unusually this was a steam turbine, almost certainly replacing an earlier engine. The nearer (Mill No.2) housed a 1500 hp Hicks Hargreave cross-compound engine of 1913.

Tesco Fuel Station Oldham
Located at the junction of the A627 Oldham Way and the
A6048 Featherstall Road North this 24 hour Tesco fuel station
is always busy a litre of diesel cost 99.9 in March 2009.
The red brick cotton mill in the top right of the picture
is Werneth Ring Mill on Henley Street.
