This does a poor job of filling the large block of space once occupied by Kent Mill Image Image I took this while on a mill 'safari' in February 2008 but was somewhat dismayed that a once magnificent red brick edifice with tower, engine house and chimney had been replaced by this (pleasant enough though it is).

Kent has gone. The wall on the right is probably Falcon Mills.

The far mill has gone. The copper dome on Manor is showing storm damage but it was subsequently repaired. You can appreciate what a fine chimney Manor has but the satellite suggests that the boiler house has gone and the chimney is isolated. The lodge has also been filled in and is a lorry parking area.

Manor Mill, Chadderton
This is one of the best chimneys in Oldham. Royd mill is another good one. The stone wall is actually the dam for the lodge, as the lands slopes away and a level surface is needed for water. Oldham Council were apparently thinking about acquiring the mill as a heritage project but it's no surprise that it never happened.

Manor mill, Chadderton
Cranked out to 28mm and against the light. However, the beautifully intact chimney, engine house and water/stair tower with copper clad dome are the defining features of this mill and can be seen. G Stott, another of the Stott dynasty, was the architect.
