Earl Mill, Hathershaw
Built 1860 but rebuilt 1891 - architect PS Stott. 90720 spindles. Engine 1891 was a Buckley and Taylor 1250 hp horizontal twin tandem compound, christened "Oldham" and "Manchester". Fitted with slide valves all round which was rather archaic by 1891. The engine house is just visible. Allotments in foreground - another great British institution (men and their sheds). Am I boring anybody?
