St.Marks Church
This church stands on the hill above Oldham at Glodwick. The notice board now displays no legend, and the church appears little-used. The local community is now predominantly Moslem, but their mosque stands tucked away behind this church in a side street.

The Lion's Den, Alexandra Park
The Pavilion or "Lion's Den" public shelter, with its ornate ironwork, round arches and corner turrets, was one of the original features of the park when it opened in 1865. A postcard http://www.alexandra-park.com/Lions-Den/LD.html shows it in its splendour around the turn of the twentieth century. Over the years, much of its embellishment was removed until it was dismantled in 1972 leaving only its two lions and the brick wall. Fortunately, when the park was restored, the pavilion was recreated from the original design, and once more forms the focal point along the promenade.
