Bailey Mill, Delph
A splendidly derelict mill that is popular with the urban explorers. Fellow Geograph member Chris Hodrien has added the following information: - The company's name is still displayed on a stone tablet high up randomly among the windows on the main elevation - an unusual position. The low single-storey pitch-roofed sections in the foreground right of the chimney (the rear one now roof-less and blocked by a large modern metal water storage tank) are clearly the original boiler houses, although the boiler settings were thoroughly stripped out some time ago in working days. Can any reader help in identifying the exact location of the original engine(s), of which there is no obvious sign? A very fine example of a tall substantial stone 3-storey house with weaver's workshop top windows can be found at the main A road crossroads just to North-east at SD987074

The aerial view shows the chimney to be still standing but the large block with the water tower was destroyed by an arson attack in 2016. The chimney is interesting because the original stone stack appears to have been raised with a new brick section above the original stone cap. Chimneys of this type are getting rarer.

Bailey Mill, Delph
A large woollen mill that was derelict in 2010, having closed finally in 2000. The large block in the distance was destroyed by an arson attack in 2016. Such a shame as this was once a fine mill.

Bailey Mill, Delph
Seen in 2010 before the main block was destroyed by an arson attack in 2016. The owning company went broke in 1996 but was rescued and the mill continued until 2000 before being left derelict. It was a fine mill in its day and I'm very glad I got to see it.

A derelict woollen mill. A view from the mill yard towards the former boiler house area. I was not actually indoors.
