Double postbox and more on Yorkshire Street
The top end of Yorkshire is not pedestrianised. The double postbox (OL16 31) is outside the former Townhead Post Office. Why it is surrounded by pieces of blue foam I cannot say. On the opposite side are a cafe, Cash Converters, a property management company and a hair salon.

Penn Street, Rochdale, Lancashire
In the drastic rebuilding of Rochdale that went on in the 1970s many old streets would disappear or be changed out of all recognition. This is Penn Street, a steep hill that connected Baillie Street to the top part of Yorkshire Street.

Holcroft Foundry
This building housed a preserved beam engine and was purpose built for it. Talk about preserving your heritage! Sadly, it is no more and the beam engine is now at Ellenroad Engine house. the good news is that it is now steamable. Stanley Challenger Graham was responsible for the installation at Ellenroad and made a magnificent job of it.
