North Portal Dean Royd Railway Tunnel
Apparently the Manchester & Leeds Railway constructed this tunnel as a means of stabilising what was to be a cutting through unstable ground, especially with the Rochdale Canal close by

This road starts off passing through a timber merchant's yard before becoming a rural lane. Soon after crossing the canal it becomes a gated driveway.

Sands Lock No 32, Rochdale Canal
The bridge carries Deanroyd Road, which is little more than a lane, while the houses up to the right are Dean Villas. This shows the lock as it was for many years before the recent canal restoration.
