The Norvic Clinic
Built in 1984, the Norvic Clinic was Norfolk's first purpose-built secure mental health unit. Currently a medium-secure unit, the clinic provides assessment and treatment for male and female patients detained under the Mental Health Act, frequently with a forensic history and requiring treatment over a prolonged period of time. Conditions treated are schizophrenia, psychosis, personality disorder, bipolar disorder, depression and mania. The clinic received some media attention in October 1998, following the death of one of its patients, David "Rocky" Bennett, after having been pinned down on the floor for 25 minutes by a team of at least four nurses. For anyone interested, here is the link to the Independent Inquiry into the death of David Bennett: https://www.blink.org.uk/docs/David_Bennett_report.pdf
