Entrance into a tunnel
This tunnel leads from a garden to the staithe on the other side of the road, running under said road. Some say that it was once used by smugglers, others believe that it was part of some chalk workings, but the reason for its existence would seem to be that the then owners of the property it is situated on regularly went to the staithe for a swim clothed only in their bathing costumes and did not wish to be seen by others.
