Disused chalk mine in Eaton, Norwich
This is one of the blocked shafts in the abandoned chalk mine. Somebody, perhaps surveyers who regularly visit these mines, have sprayed their initials on the ceiling using black paint.

Lime kiln at abandoned chalk pits in Eaton, Norwich
Steps descending into the darkness where a lime kiln has survived on this abandoned chalk quarry. Some of the mined chalk (used as agricultural fertiliser) was converted into lime on site. This brick-built lime kiln comprises a doughnut-shaped circular tunnel surrounding a central chimney that has three furnaces. It is known to have stood on this site since at least 1864.
