The entrance into Keswick Hall

Keswick has two halls, the Old Hall and a more recent 'new' hall, which once used to be one of the stately homes of the Gurney family. This new Keswick Hall was built by Hudson Gurney in 1817. The architect was William Wilkins, the designer of the National Gallery in London and Downing College in Cambridge. In 1940 the hall was requisitioned by the army and from 1948 to 1981 it accommodated a teacher training college. The building has since been converted into flats and offices. Currently about 65% of the combined population of the parish of Keswick and Intwood live at Keswick New Hall, which comprises 186 residences. The hall is also occupied by a number of (currently nine) small office type businesses.

Keswick Hall
The hall was a teacher training college for many years and is still marked "Coll" on the OS maps. However, the training activities have moved to the nearby University of East Anglia, and a variety of commercial and residential uses now occupy the site. The complex was cut off to the SW by the construction of the A47 Norwich Southern Bypass.
