The old Gatekeeper's cottage on Kirkley Run
#17 The old L & N.E.R. branch line used to run from Oulton Broad South station to the South dock just west of the bascule bridge and various canning factories which once stood on the Belvedere and Waveney Roads. The line which ran between Dell Road and Victoria Road crossed Kirkley Run at a level crossing at this point and continued on to Durban Road. Image

There are two stinkers in Kimberley Road, the other is Image] This one was made by Tuke and Bell Ltd. - Engineers - Lichfield & - London. When decommissioned it was filled with concrete.

Track of old railway line before Kirkley Run level crossing
The line at this point has travelled between Victoria Road and Dell Road since leaving Oulton Broad South station. Here it crosses Kirkley Run over a level crossing passing the gatekeepers cottage on the left. Image and proceeds eastward between Kimberley Road and Notley Road. Image

One of the remaining stench pipes to still be found in the Lowestoft area. Manufactured by Ham Baker & Co Limited - Engineers. Westminster. Image This is one of five I have been able to find to date.

Collingwood Court, Lowestoft
