Hunworth Church
Just a small village - but an imposing Norman tower is a feature of St. Lawrence's church. The chancel was built in 1850 but the nave has a window going back to Saxon times.

Hunworth St Lawrence's church
Time has stood still for many years at Hunworth church. The old sketch hanging on the wall inside shows the outside of the church almost exactly as it is today. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the inside; electricity has been installed in the most unsympathetic way possible and has marred the appearance of the interior with ugly meter boxes and sockets. The fitting and furnishings are all Victorian and lack any charm or interesting features. The octagonal mediaeval font is very plain and unadorned. In the south transept is a small piscina with what I assume is a credence shelf at the side. A good carved eagle lectern is worth a second glance but the only real unusual thing about this rather poorly maintained church is a panel of tracery just below the weathering of the southwest tower buttress.
