Bawdeswell War Memorial
There are 17 names on the memorial which is for both wars with no indication as to which men died in which war. In fact the top 15 are the men lost in the Great War and the bottom two are the men lost in the Second World War. During the Second World War the church was destroyed when a mosquito crashed into it while attempting to return to their base under icing conditions. Pilot Officer James McLean and Sergeant Melvin Tansley of 608 Squadron, RAF, based at Downham Market were both killed. https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/6506989
