39 Crown Road - The Steam Packet public house
This 19th century building is Grade 2 listed. The first licensee was James Gidney in 1836, when its name was 'Sovereign Steam Packet'. In 1865 the pub became the 'Old Steam Packet' and in 1908 it was renamed Market Tavern. Since 1993, it is the 'Steam Packet'.
