Maize has a high biomass yield but starts growing late, leaving the soil exposed for a long time.

Ingham War Memorial
The Memorial, which stands south of the tower records the names of six men lost in WW1 and of one lost in WW2.
Inside the church are further memorials and a large memorial to "The Old Boys of the Prince of Wales Sea Training Hostel" who gave their lives in WW2.

Prince of Wales Sea Training Hostel Memorial
The Prince of Wales Sea Training Hostel was based at Ingham Old Hall from 1940 to 1953. This Memorial which bears 85 names was moved from there after the hostel moved to Dover.

Ingham Holy Trinity church
The 15th century tower is very elegant, with its stepped battlements and tall pinnacles. Entry to the church is by the south porch which is simply groined and has two stories above, once used as a schoolroom. The large church used to be a conventual church to a priory; inside, the cloisters can still be seen in the north aisle. Unusually too, the clerestory has coloured glass in circular windows creating a lovely effect.
