The 5th Quarter Community Garden
The 5th Quarter group has recently started reviving a patch of wasteland behind Tudor Hall > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5816700 on the site of the Boulton & Paul ironworks, opened in 1864, of which nothing remains. Boulton & Paul were producing everything from chicken wire to church pews, and when WW1 broke out they won government contracts for a range of construction products vital to the war effort. The company is for this reason best remembered as manufacturers of aircraft which were made in their Riverside factory and assembled at Mousehold Heath. The King George V Memorial Hall (NLC plaque)

The initials NLC stands for the Norwich Lads Club, which has a long history in the city and celebrated its 100th birthday in May 2018. It was founded by the then Chief Constable of Norwich, John Henry Dain, with the aim of steering young men away from potential hazerds and point them in a more worthwhile direction. His intention was to provide a place where they could learn boxing so as to keep them off the streets. The names of the club's alumni include those of the Walsh brothers, Sam Sexton, Nathan Cale, Zaiphan Morris and John Thaxton.

The King George V Memorial Hall (Magdalen Group plaque)

King Street, Norwich
