Gates east of railway bridge spanning the River Usk
The southern end of the bridge crosses a gated farm track. The pedestrian gate on the public footpath was padlocked and appeared to be fenced off from the track.

Fishing the Usk
The bridge in the background carries the railway line which links Abergavenny and Newport. The chap in the 4x4 was fishing, but he looked to me to be sitting in his car having a kip. When we walked past later on he was up to his waist in the river casting in, or off, or whatever it is anglers do, so maybe he was just having a break.

Footpath below the railway bridge over the River Usk at Llangattock Nigh Usk
The footpath here passes below the steep embankment of the Abergavenny to Pontypool railway line, part of the Marches Line running from Newport to Shrewsbury. The banks of the River Usk here are very prone to seasonal flooding and flotsam and jetsam are a constant feature of the banks here for many miles.

No Road Markings
And indeed, no road. I don't know what this sign was doing here, but it's a fair way from the nearest road! I stood ankle deep in water to get this, as I recall.
