Codfather fish bar 21 and Cats Protection Charity Shop 22 Frogmore Street, Abergavenny
A pair of Grade II Listed shops built as such around 1905. However the core of the buildings is 18th century, probably 1712-1714 and was just re-fronted by the Edwardians. This is supported by late 19th century photographs. The shop fronts are largely original Edwardian. No.22 had a rear extension by Bernard Thorpe in the early 1970s. Occupants include; 1862-1865 Richard James Greengrocer; 1879 Mr Saunders toy & fruit seller; 1891-1919 William Rees then Rees & Boundy then G R Boundy's ironmongers (Boundy also has implement store in the Cattle Market); 1937-1960 Tantivy confectioners; 1961-1975 Bernard Thorpe Estate Agent and then Bernard Thorpe & Partners, Monmouthshire Building Society; 1981-1993 Wise Owls book shop; 2000 Floral Occasions; 2005-2006 The Wardrobe, ladies fashions. In no.21 were; 1871-1877 William Price cooper; 1879 E Jones cooper; 1891-1906 Charles Sayce confectioner; 1909 Morgan & Co. grocery; 1912-1950 Williams family grocers; 1950-1964 T Harvard Ford family grocers; 1967-1971 Geoff Ellis Mace grocery Store; 1980 Abergavenny Fish Bar; 1988-1989 Colin’s Fish Bar; from at least 2006 Codfathers fish & chips.

Nicholls, 19 Frogmore Street, Abergavenny
A purpose built Post Office in 1915. The Post Office moved to a site on Nevill Street in December 1968. In the 1970s and 80s it was a Co-operative store and in 1989-91 Robert Price DIY. Nicholls moved in c.1993. Prior to the post office, Kelly's lists Robert Isaac Houlson, photographer & cycle agent for about 20 years at 19 Frogmore Street but you have to be aware of potential street re-numbering. Listed building planning approval was obtained in May 2018 to form a door/opening between no.19 and the Grade II Listed no.18 although some openings did already exist.
