The houses were built in 1850s for workers at the nearby ironworks and pits.

Grade II listed former Electricity Power House, Forgeside, Blaenavon
Located between the western edge of residential Forgeside and Forge Pond.
The red brick power house was built c1920, Grade II listed in September 1995.

Eastern end of Forge Pond, Blaenavon
The pond, about 110 metres long and 50 metres wide, is variously known as Forge Pond, Pen-ffordd-goch Pond or The Keeper's Pond. The latter name is a reference to a nearby cottage formerly the dwelling of a grouse moors gamekeeper.
The pond was built in the early 19th century to provide water for Garnddyrys Forge, which started production c1817. The forge was dismantled in the 1860s.
