Lineside fire, Forge Side
A number of small, lineside fires started beside the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway during the steam gala weekend. Most either burnt out quickly or were dealt with promptly by volunteers, although the fire brigade attended this one briefly.

Demonstration coal train on Blaenavon's Heritage Railway
More like a train of empties! Hunslet 0-6-0ST Wimblebury is heading uphill for Furnace sidings. Even hauling empties the locomotive was making a lot of noise.

Steps and path to Forgeside Road, Forgeside
This steep, direct route extends for 75 metres to Forgeside Road.
Walkers have the alternative of a 170 metre long road route,
where there are no pavements. I chose this vehicle-free direct route.
